SunSmileySummer Grafting & Tree Sales Day

Held annually. The next will be Sunday 10th February 2019. Time: 10am to 3pm. FREE ENTRY.

  • Eat, drink and be merry
  • Watch grafting/budding demonstrations, which are ongoing throughout the day.
  • By watching these demonstrations, learn techniques for grafting or budding fruit trees
  • Have new trees grafted or budded for you – apples, peaches, pears, plums etc. (subject to availability).
  • Buy one-year-old grafted heritage fruit trees when available
  • Buy heritage fruit tree scion* wood for home grafting
  • Talk to experts in gardening and fruit growing
  • Select suitable rootstocks.
  • Rare and unusual edible plants for sale and fruit tastings (in season).
  • Subject to availability: pruning demonstrations, orchard tours, edible weed walks.

Free FRIDAY Fruit Tree Workshops
at Werribee Park Heritage Orchard
Expert horticulturist Craig Castree will be at the orchard from 9.45am to 12pm every Friday, with a break over the summer holidays.
Anyone can turn up to these events and learn practical skills such as grafting, summer pruning, fungal control etc.
Bring hat, gloves, sunscreen, your own refreshments, a pair of secateurs (named in case you mislay them).
Details of the week’s class will be posted on our Volunteer’s Facebook group when possible.
