Description

  • Origin: ’ came from a tree received by Burbank from Yokohama, Japan, in Dec. 1885 and was first named “Blood Plum of Satsuma” after a province in Japan
  • Tree: Medium to large, upright-spreading, vigorous, moderately productive, bearing heavier crops as the tree becomes older
  • Chilling Requirement:
  • Low: 300 chill hours
  • Pollination: Santa Rosa, Queen Rosa, Red Ace, Formosa, some degree of self-fertility
  • Fruit: Medium rounded fruit, semi-clingstone
  • Skin: Mottled maroon over green skin
  • Flesh: Dark red meaty flesh, sweet, mild, not tart

  • Uses: Eating, excellent for jam
