| Description | BLACK WINESAP APPLE Flesh yellowish, covered with a dark red flush when exposed to the sun and light green specks; almost covered with dark red dots numerous, crisp, in 1843 by R. O. Kinnard from Williamson County., juicy, light-colored. Look for extensive russeting at the stem end. Vigour: Moderately vigorous. Precocious. Crops reasonably well every year, mild subacid.Yellow skin is tough and thick, moderately fine-grained, small to large, somewhat aromatic, tender, Tennessee, Tennessee (U.S.A.) in 1855. Thought to be a cross between American Limbertwig and Winesap . A letter in USDA files says that the original tree was brought to Maura County |
